Elizabeth Brothers is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Child and Human Development from Arizona State University, where she conducted and presented research on the social impact of help-seeking within the military community. She earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University and was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate, completing both her Undergraduate and Graduate degrees with a 4.0 GPA.
Elizabeth began her counseling career working for an area agency as a Counselor for underserved youth, working with children ages birth to 5 years of age and their families. She continued her journey by joining STARRY Counseling as a satellite Counselor to assist youth and families, travelling to Coryell and Lampasas counties to provide services in rural communities. Currently, Elizabeth serves as the Team Supervisor for the STARRY office in Killeen, Texas. Elizabeth is responsible for managing the office, providing clinical guidance to staff, as well as continuing to provide counseling services to youth and families. She takes pride in offering clinical supervision to Graduate students pursuing Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy degrees as they complete their internships with STARRY.
Elizabeth specializes in trauma-informed care and is trained in multiple modalities, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). She is currently pursuing Certification as an EMDR Certified Therapist. Elizabeth also gained extensive training in play therapy and received her credential as a Registered Play Therapist to continue to provide specialized care at no-cost to area youth. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has developed strong relationships with community partners and enjoys providing outreach services by offering counseling and group therapy services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in an area shelter. She currently serves on the Board of the Central Texas Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy, the Mental Health Advisory Board of Central Texas, and the Central Texas CRCG (Community Resource Coordination Group).
Elizabeth lives in the Killeen area with her husband, 2 children, and her 3 fur-babies. When she is not at work, Elizabeth enjoys CrossFit, outdoor activities with her family, and various carpentry and woodworking projects.
